CYNTHIA WITTIGER

Cynthia Wittiger obtained her Bachelors of Nursing in 1996 from the University of Calgary. Since graduation, in June 1996 ,she has always enjoyed working in the acute care setting for the Calgary Health Region (current AHS) as well as a 3 year work term in Saudi Arabia. After returning to Calgary in 2002, she advanced her nursing knowledge by completing her Masters in Nursing and Diploma to obtain her Nurse Practitioner designation in August 2007 from the University of Calgary. Her focus of NP work has been in the area of Hepatology mainly on cirrhosis and viral hepatology. She led the first NP-Cirrhosis clinic in August 2007-2016 at the Health Sciences Centre. In March of 2017, she left HSC and joined the Aspen Woods Clinic as their Cirrhosis NP.

The Nurse Practitioner role fits the model of care set forth by Alberta Health Services – offering a comprehensive consultation from diagnosis, management of care, follow-up and referral for liver transplant when appropriate. Cynthia has a passion for patient education and liver health and thoroughly enjoys getting to know her patients.
